Harbison is proud to announce the launch of Harbison Kids, a new After School Care and Vacation Care program in Burradoo, designed to support local families while strengthening connections across generations.

The launch marks the next step in Harbison’s long-standing commitment to intergenerational care, an approach that brings children and older adults together in meaningful, everyday ways.

Harbison CEO David Cochran said the program has grown from years of experience reconnecting residents with their local community.

“Our intergenerational journey began in 2018 with our Grandfriends program, and since then we’ve seen firsthand the powerful impact these connections can have,” David said.

“Harbison Kids is a natural evolution of that work, creating a safe, engaging environment for children, while also providing opportunities for residents to stay connected, active and engaged.”

The program follows approval from the NSW Department of Education and Wingecarribee Shire Council and will offer care for children aged 5 to 12, including after school and school holiday programs.

Harbison Kids will be delivered by a dedicated team of qualified educators, working alongside Harbison’s intergenerational team to create shared experiences that benefit both children and older people.

The program has been developed under the leadership of Vanessa, Project Manager, who has played a key role in shaping and delivering this initiative.

Research shows intergenerational programs can improve emotional, social and mental wellbeing, reduce loneliness and build confidence and communication skills across age groups.

David said the initiative also supports Harbison’s workforce and the broader community.

“Access to quality childcare is a real challenge for many families, including our own staff,” he said.

“This program helps support work/life balance and strengthens our position as an employer of choice in the region.”

Harbison Kids will operate from the Burradoo campus and is open to both staff and the wider community.

Bookings are now open for After School Care, with places limited.
