Southern Highlands, NSW - Harbison has proudly once again been recognised on the international stage, taking home awards at the Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards 2026 in Singapore for its implementation of the Nobi smart lighting system.

The awards, presented as part of the World Ageing Festival, celebrate excellence and innovation in aged care across the Asia Pacific region.

Harbison was named a finalist across five categories, spanning care delivery, operations and technology, highlighting the organisation’s continued commitment to leading innovation in aged care.

This recognition builds on Harbison’s success at the 2025 awards, where its Motiview program, an immersive virtual cycling initiative designed to support physical, cognitive and social wellbeing, also received international recognition. Together, these achievements demonstrate a consistent focus on delivering meaningful, evidence based innovation to improve the lives of residents and the community.

The 2026 Awards recognise Harbison’s implementation of Nobi, an AI-enabled smart lighting system designed to improve resident safety, particularly at night, while supporting independence, dignity and faster response times. The system also equips staff with real time insights, enabling more responsive and effective care.

Harbison CEO David Cochran said the achievement was a proud moment for the whole organisation and its community.

‘To be recognised again on the international stage is very rewarding and speaks to the consistency of our team in driving innovation that truly makes a difference,’

‘Last year, it was our Motiview program. This year, it’s our Nobi implementation. Both reflect our commitment to improving safety, dignity and quality of life for our residents through practical, scalable solutions.’

A key highlight of the event were presentations by Harbison General Manager Residential Care, Danny Turner, who recently received international recognition as a Global Ageing Trailblazer.

‘Danny is the embodiment of Harbison values, and he did an outstanding job representing Harbison internationally,’ David said.

‘He demonstrated the real impact this technology is having for our residents and staff. We are incredibly proud of his leadership and the role he has played in bringing this innovation to life.’

David said the achievement reflected a whole of organisation effort.

‘Innovation like this doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes a team, our staff, families, partners and broader community, to embrace new ways of working and continue striving for better outcomes.’

Harbison’s recognition comes at a time when the aged care sector is increasingly focused on innovation, safety and quality outcomes for older Australians.

‘This is not just a win for Harbison, but something our whole community can be proud of,’ David said
